Do scholars' collaborative tendencies impact the quality of their publications? A generalized propensity score matching analysis
Abstract: Highlights•We introduce a novel GPSM method to establish causal links between collaboration modes and paper citation numbers.•We uncover a significant “inverted U-shaped” relationship between authors' participation tendencies and papers' quality.•We innovatively incorporate authors' structural attributes in cooperative networks into covariates.
