Abstract: Highlights •We characterize the main state-of-art frameworks for Big Data analytics.•We describe a novel C++-based DSL for Big Data analytics endowed with a functional semantics.•We advocate for a unified batch and stream approach to analytics though polymorphic pipelines which admits a lightweight implementation to support distributed analytics for edge and fog computing.
