Abstract: When it comes to Virtual Reality (VR) simulations, controllers are used to interact with the virtual world. However, controllers are an approximation, and a possible alternative is represented by optical hand-tracking. The goal of the present paper is to compare the two solutions to investigate the best way to implement interactions in VR. Results showed that, despite its limitations, hand-tracking enables realistic interactions that are more consistent with the real world.
