Short Summary: This contribution deals with the question of how critical and reflexive orientational knowledge about the ‘digital society’ as a socio-technical system can be taught. To answer this question, the metaphorical concept and model of the ‘algorithmic social machine’ is presented for discussion as a work-in-progress and with reference to other critical learning resources.
