Abstract: Highlights•We proposed a noval model (BCARNet) that balances performance and speed for salient object detection (SOD).•We introduced the Bidirectional Cross-Attention Module (BCAM) for layer-wise feature fusion.•The Attention Restoration Module (ARM) is developed to address issues of the attention deficiency, thereby improving detection outcomes.
