Optimal integration of forest inventory data and aerial image-based canopy height models for forest stand management
Abstract: Highlights•Compared to typical field inventory estimations, more accurate tree heights can be obtained from aerial image-based canopy height models.•Aerial image-based canopy height models can be reliably integrated into forest inventory data at large scales and provide useful information for forest stand management.•A higher correlation was observed between remotely predicted growing stocks and field inventory values for fixed-area plots compared to angle-count plots, but no statistical difference between the two methods.
