COPDVD: Automated classification of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on a new collected and evaluated voice dataset
Abstract: Highlights•Machine learning can capture information in vowel “A” phonations for detecting Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).•Cat Boost algorithm shows superiority versus Support Vector Machine and Random forest algorithms.•Acoustic features can be used to extract information that is hidden in a vowel “A” phonation for classification purposes.•The difference between validation and test set results indicates the potential of using voice to monitor COPD.
