Virtual reality framework for editing and exploring medial axis representations of nanometric scale neural structures
Abstract: Highlights•We introduce a novel immersive framework for analyzing nanoscale brain cell reconstructions.•The framework is based on medial axis representations of branched cells like neurons or glia.•The system features semiautomatic external and internal interfaces for creating and editing skeletons.•The framework is designed to be used on stereoscopic HMD-based setups and large scale monoscopic displays.•We tested and evaluated the system on cells extracted from the somatosensory cortex of a juvenile rat.
