A Summary of the Workshop on Intelligence Augmentation: Future Directions and Ethical Implications in HCI
Abstract: Historically perceived as a technological enhancer of human capabilities and collective intelligence, Intelligence Augmentation (IA) aims at augmenting outcomes across varied tasks by maintaining a human-centric focus. In two keynotes, two talk sessions and several rounds of group discussions, this workshop explored the latest research on technologies and policies that enable IA to be beneficial to both individuals and groups, in private as well as in the workplace. The two papers published in these post-proceedings explore the future of IA from several perspectives and shed light onto the ethical implications of generative AI, the use of AI in products and services, the spectrum between human control and automation, emotion regulation for IA and human trust in AI.
