Abstract: Highlights•A multi-modal medical image fusion method based on multi-dictionary is proposed.•A novel detail layer fusion strategy is proposed to detect the global structure.•A nuclear energy based fusion rule is developed to fuse the base layers.•Our method yields better performance than other methods even in noisy fusion.
