ERT: Data placement based on estimated response time for P2P storage systems

Abstract: Highlights•We analyze existing data placement method in major P2P storage systems that uses structured and unstructured overlay network.•We devise a novel data placement method and corresponding data retrieval method that considers the heterogeneity of nodes.•The proposed data placement method leads to improvement in the load balancing performance of the P2P storage system.•The corresponding data retrieval method eliminates the need for global knowledge.
