VIVO in the Spanish research scenario

TL;DR: How VIVO could be implemented in the Spanish research scenario and to foster the Open Access.
Abstract: In Spain, (and also in Europe), the three main tools used for research management are, mainly: A CRIS system, an acronym for Current Research Information System, is a tool that enables all research-related processes to be managed globally (including researchers profiles and CVs, projects, research groups, funding, etc.); a Research Portal that showcases all the research outputs publicly; and the Institutional Repository, a tool to store and classify the institutional digital publications and datasets. Although there is a certain hegemony in the use of the tool for the Institutional Repository in Spain (more than 70% of universities use DSpace), there is no hegemony in the use of tools for the CRIS or the Research Portal.
In this presentation we will see that VIVO has proved to be a very versatile tool. In the Spanish scenario, it could be used especially as a Research Portal for big institutions and as a CRIS for medium/small institutions. It is easy to have the research results, managed by the CRIS, well organized, and classified in VIVO. It also provides an easy link to the Institutional repositories, to complete the research life cycle. Finally, it is also a key tool to foster the evolution of open access alongside Institutional Repositories, as in Spain, all publicly funded research must publish its results in open access.
