Abstract: Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) based imaging and velocimetry methods are demonstrated for two-phase dynamical flows involving gas-oil and air-water mixtures. We consider two extended ECT modalities in particular. Electrical capacitance volume tomography (ECVT) is applied for electrically non-conducting flows such as gas-oil, whereas displacement-current phase tomography (DCPT) is applied for conducting flows such as air-water. In addition, gas flow rates are calculated from the reconstructed image and velocity profile, and compared to the actual gas flow rate.
