Abstract: The concept of responsible decentralized intelligence (RDI) emerges from the integration of foundation models (FMs) and blockchain technology. This integration offers substantial potential for enhancing computational efficiency and data processing capabilities. However, the lack of a clear understanding of the extent of responsibility in this context raises concerns from users, posing challenges to their widespread adoption. In this paper, we undertake an initial analysis of the connotation of RDI. First, we systematically deconstruct the constituent elements of FM and blockchain, which collectively form the basis of DI, to discern commonalities and distinctions and offer tailored analyses. Then, we introduce a structured framework for evaluating the scope of responsibilities and establishing a set of reconsidered properties that center around responsibility. Last, we conduct an analysis of such identified criteria in DI.
