Understanding acceptability of disordered speech through Audience Response Systems-based evaluation

Abstract: Highlights•Audience Response System (ARS)-based scores of acceptability are valid.•Listeners react more often to disruption of acceptability than to unintelligibility.•Panels of 6-10-year-old children provide valid and reliable scores of acceptability.•SLPs and other adults provide similar scores; children react less frequently.•ARS-based evaluations may be useful also in other areas of speech research.
