Abstract: Highlights•A new spatially-enhanced method for faceted search is described using brute force computation and spatial hotspot analysis.•Spatial facet combinations are evaluated in two case studies using multivariate spatial data.•The method reveals interesting patterns in multivariate spatial data while helping analysts avoid dead-end search paths.•The spatial facet combination methodological limitations in terms of scale and computation are described.•Future research is suggested for addressing noted limitations of the spatial facet combination method.
