Abstract: Highlights•This paper introduces a computationally efficient, secure, and no-key cancelable fingerprint template generation mechanism using VSS, data embedding, inverse halftoning and super-resolution.•This paper introduces a secure single-point resilient distributed storage scheme for cancelable fingerprint templates.•This paper introduces a technique where fingerprint images are securely reconstructed back from the fingerprint template. Hence the authentication can be performed using any kind of matching technique.•This paper introduces a partial reconstruction resistant cancelable fingerprint template generation and reconstruction mechanism using (n,n)VSS.
