Abstract: Highlights•We show how to use the full dendrogram structure to answer the following questions:•(1) Which hierarchical clustering method should be used?•(2) How is the resulting dendrogram interpreted in terms of the features?•(3) How important is each feature in a dendrogram?•Unlike existing methods, our framework does not require cutting the dendrogram.
