Abstract: Highlights•An improved random permutation set entropy to address self-contradiction is proposed.•Use spearman’s footrule distance to measure the conflict in permutation events.•Consider the orderliness and inaccuracy of random permutation set at the same time.•Several examples show the effectiveness of the improved random permutation set entropy.•The application of random permutation set entropy is broadened.
