Abstract: Water quality monitoring is necessary for enabling qualified water reuse, which has been gaining acceptance as a method of water supply augmentation. ICT solution can facilitate water treatment and monitoring (WTM) by providing real-time monitoring data from remote. For sustainable operation, both WTM system and ICT solution need to be self-contained, easy-configured, simple, and low cost. A distributed device-to-device (D2D) communication system is developed in this study as part of a water reuse project. The developed D2D system operates independently from other network infrastructures and without central control. This D2D system has been deployed in field trial campaign and its feasibility and effectiveness are validated.
