Abstract: Highlights•We present a dynamic curvature-penalized geodesic model in the orientation-lifted space to detect weak structures with complicated geometries.•Path features are designed to introduce the slow-varying constraint into the curvaturepenalized geodesic model based on a local geodesic backtracked scheme in the orientationlifted space.•The local bending operator is constructed to provide a quantitative measure of the geodesic evolving direction.•The coherence penalty is established to guarantee the consistency of the local appearance features.
