Patient-specific non-invasive estimation of the aortic blood pressure waveform by ultrasound and tonometry

Abstract: Highlights•We propose a new algorithm to estimate the aortic BP waveform non-invasively.•Imaging is used to obtain aortic flow and diameter waveforms to derive aortic PWV.•Aortic BP is reconstructed from PWV and peripheral pressure recorded tonometrically.•The algorithm's accuracy is validated from invasive and non-invasive reference values.•This new approach gives central BP and additional clinically valuable information.
