Abstract: Highlights•We implemented an effective method, called LGLG-WPCA, for face recognition.•LGLG-WPCA can effectively extract the detail information of face image.•LGLG can combine DCNN to improve the performance of face recognition.•A self-attention-based network (SAN) was proposed to fuse LGLG and DCNN features.•SAN can use the correlation between face features to perform feature transformation.
