Knowledge discovery system for automated quality abstraction.

Abstract: To encourage the delivery of high quality care with an additional emphasis on the transparency of hospital results and reporting, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission require each hospital to submit certain inpatient core measures every quarter. In this research, we developed a system that can achieve this automatically with high accuracy for any arbitrary clinical question, in a manner that is easily user configurable/teachable.
