Enhancing Generative Models for Scientific Text Simplification

Abstract: Internet has democratized access to scientific literature, however, scientific literacy has failed to keep up with this trend, which poses issues regarding public policy and the spread of misinformation. This PhD project aims to address these issues by using AI. More specifically, we present a research project for using LLMs for scientific text simplification.
