A novel method of fish tail fin removal for mass estimation using computer vision

Abstract: Highlights•Fish head is automatically detected.•Fish tail fin was fully automatically remove based on Cartesian coordinate system and image processing.•The different features were respectively extract from fish image with and without tail fin.•Mass prediction model was developed based on ventral geometrical features with and without tail fin.•The mass estimation precision for fish without tail fin was verified in test set.
