A Markov chain approximation of switched Fokker-Planck equations for a model of on-off intermittency in the postural control during quiet standing
Abstract: Highlights•The intermittent postural control is modeled by a switched stochastic hybrid system.•Dynamics of the model are analyzed by the switched Fokker–Planck (FP) equations.•The switched FP equations are approximated by a finite state Markov chain model.•The Markov chain model is developed based on the finite element method.•A unique treatment of probability current at the switching boundary is developed.
