Abstract: Highlights•We designed a transformation system (CyMLTx) to generate high-level models from model components provided by various crop modeling platforms.•The CyMLTx approach is demonstrated using three model components developed in BioMA, SIMPLACE, and DSSAT.•The system can be extended to other crop modeling platforms.•The system greatly facilitates the reuse and improvement of crop model components and the reproducibility of crop modeling studies.
