Abstract: Highlights•A physical twin observer is developed as a network of fixed and mobile robotic platforms for supporting the DTO.•A strategy for merging real-time local and nearby monitoring data is established through data bubbles.•Artificial intelligence is used to annotate ecological information from images and videos.•Data flow calculations are used to compute ecological indicators and support socioecological modelling.•Graphical user interfaces that merge biological and environmental data in virtual spaces are introduced.
