Pattern Exploration as Keyword Search

Abstract: Frequent pattern mining is one of the central tasks in data mining with broad applications in diverse domains. The mining process typically returns an overwhelmingly large number of patterns, making pattern evaluation and exploration extremely difficult. In this project, we adapt and extend information retrieval techniques to implement pattern retrieval, where we introduce Peak, an IR-based system that features a user-friendly keyword search interface allowing users to effectively explore itemset and sequential patterns based on their interest.
