Abstract: We present a dynamic magnetic field generator for dynamic characteristics analysis of weak magnetic field sensors. In contrast to existing methods for generating magnetic field using current drive coils, the proposed dynamic magnetic field generator leverages the accelerated permanent magnet. The amplitude and frequency bandwidth of the generated dynamic magnetic field are traceable to velocity, spatial location, and time. We experimentally demonstrate the advantages of the proposed generator, and validate the magnetic flux density model of the permanent magnet. The implemented prototype presents a permanent magnet velocity of 123.91 m/μs, the magnetic field rise-time of 367 μs, and available frequency bandwidth of 1.8 kHz.
