Abstract: The workshop on computational models of place was held the first time in the context of the ACM SIGSPATIAL conference series in 2013. A workshop with a similar focus (PLACE'08) was held before at GIScience 2008 in Park City. Recently it has become apparent that a workshop specifically dedicated to computational approaches to place is required in order to make progress on dealing with places in information technology.
