Abstract: Highlights•We propose a novel shape feature named improved multiscale triangle descriptor.•Our method solves the lack of interior salient point of leaf shape descriptors.•We conduct a detailed analysis of the ability of convolutional features.•The performance of our method exceeds the prior state-of-the-art approaches.
