Funding Area: Critical shared infrastructure / Infraestructura compartida critica
Problem Statement: Irelands geospatial data is fragmented across various websites. We are combing them into a simple tool that enables anyone to discover the deep temporal layers of our historic town centres.
Proposed Activities: Following the first phase of EngageKilkenny.com we will be launching soon and need continued support to onboard user feedback and launch in other locations.
Openness: All of our work, code and data is open source under both GPL and ODbL
Challenges: Moderating data upload will be challenging, which we intend to overcome by only allowing data upload to be facilitated at real-world events. We have not run any of these events yet and will learn from the process.
Neglectedness: We have received €5,000 from the Heritage Council and €10,000 through the European Bauhaus initiative which was funded through the Dept of Housing. However, we have already gone far beyond this budget and need more resources to continue developing the platform.
Success: We have already received incredibly positive feedback from our public and private sector partners. Now we need to launch publicly. Success would see a huge demand for the app to be redeveloped for all of Ireland.
