Abstract: HTTP adaptive streaming enables dynamic video quality adjustment without dedicated infrastructure. However, client-based heuristics often lack network-wide awareness. In this paper, we propose EQAH (Edge-based Quality Adaptation Heuristic), leveraging edge computing for enhanced ABR logic with minimal delay. EQAH uses dynamic buffer management based on average throughput, ensuring real-time adjustments for smooth playback, and optimal quality. Simulations show the QoE improvements of our proposed method compared to the existing edge-assisted adaptation scheme.
