Abstract: Highlights•The filtered-x fractional lower-order covariance algorithm is extended into a general framework.•Two new active impulsive noise control algorithms, referred to as FxLMLS and FxNFLOC, are derived.•The step-size bounds of the FxLMLS and FxNFLOC algorithms are derived.•Superior performance of the proposed algorithms over existing methods is demonstrated.
