TL;DR: Hear how Duke University is leveraging analytics and user feedback to guide and inform the redesign of their VIVO instance, Scholars@Duke, and strategically enhance end user engagement.
Abstract: With more faculty relying on our VIVO instance, Scholars@Duke, to share their scholarly activities and research expertise, how can we make our system more user-friendly and enhance our overall approach to engaging end users? As we embark upon upgrading the user interface for Scholars@Duke, we want to share our plans for the redesign with the VIVO community, focusing on the most significant changes and their impact on user engagement. We will discuss the following aspects of the redesign and the results that we are striving to achieve: • Analytics (provided through Google Analytics and Tableau) and measuring results (i.e., higher percentage of updated profiles, increased number of visits) • Design rationales and the user feedback driving those changes We’ll also discuss our plans for enhancing user engagement through: • Expanded communications • Educational videos and tutorials • New formats for user group meetings and training sessions • Proposed user forum We hope our work and efforts can benefit and inform other VIVO institutions.
