Abstract: Highlights•A joint optimization algorithm is proposed to reduce the average mutual coherence and the mutual coherence simultaneously.•Another joint optimization algorithm is proposed to reduce the average mutual coherence and the cumulative coherence simultaneously.•Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform existing algorithms.
