Abstract: The traditional home network may be a scalar sensor network to convey the measure physical phenomenon data or a single-hop wireless local area network (WLAN) binding the remote terminal unit (RTU) to access the Internet. In recent years, the growing interest in the ubiquitous multimedia services and applications for residential users has been concerned with its wireless communication range. The wireless channels generally suffer higher loss rates due to interference, attenuation, scattering or fading, this makes more difficulty on those application services. To extend the transmission range, the mesh wireless network with multiple-hop structures was proposed, but their relay nodes, which could be access point (AP) or a sensor node, are low processing power only. The processing power of the nodes must be upgraded enough for relaying the multimedia content. The performance issue of the relay node is studied in this paper by reconfiguring the relay node component architecture setting with Simple Scalar.
