Abstract: Highlights•The proposed MCD-DA solves the dual problem of multiclass SVM thoroughly, which has plagued researchers for over two decades.•Unlike the specific classifier-oriented DA, the MCD-DA can be used to solve the dual problems of different variants of SVMs.•The rigorous and systemic proof demonstrates our MCD-DA can obtain -optimal solution after finite iterations.
