Abstract: Computational linguistics is a central area of research at in cognitive science at UMass, involving eight professors and nine graduate students with thesis work in this area across three departments. Interdisciplinary cooperation is our hallmark, with contributions from the perspectives of linguistics, artificial intelligence, and brain theory. Our work is broken down into five major projects:
