Exploring the Use of Social Communications Technologies in Tasks and Its Performance in Organizations

Abstract: Social communication technologies (SCT) might be alternative sources of knowledge diffusion and enable employee to achieve their goals. We have investigated that the effects of SCT in the relationship with tasks and social aspects toward task performance. This study can contribute the understanding of contemporary social media usage and its performance in organizations. We collected survey data of 280 employees in companies and analyze it with multivariate regression analysis. In sum, our findings are as followings: characteristics of tasks (analyzability, urgency, complex) influence the use of SCT and social aspects (social influence, social affinity) moderate the relationship between the tasks and the use of SCT.
