Abstract: Highlights•A hybrid search mode-based differential evolution algorithm is proposed.•Memetic algorithm structure avoids the early convergence and local optimal solution.•Proposed algorithm with strong search ability and robustness outperforms the comparison methods.•The interval type-2 logic system auto designed by the proposed algorithm has high performance.
