Abstract: Highlights•Propose a texture enhanced deformable model (TEDM) for accurate detection of lumen and media–adventitia (MA) borders in intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) images.•TEDM has scientific importance related to the quantitative plaque information and 3D vessel visualization.•The accuracy of the TEDM is validated by using 1500 IVUS images from 15 in vivo patient sequences.•TEDM can detect lumen and MA surfaces precisely with small surface distance errors of 0.17 mm and 0.19 mm, respectively.
