MediFind - A Medicine Detection Framework for Vietnamese Medical Prescription

Abstract: The pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam faces a significant challenge due to the time-consuming and inaccurate manual operational protocols. This results in incorrect pharmaceutical administration and antibiotic resistance, seriously affecting patient health. However, the implementation of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) can help automate the extraction of medication information from prescriptions, leading to stream-lined drug administration and reduced errors. In this study, drug misuse patterns are analyzed, a novel method for extracting medication names from Vietnamese prescriptions is introduced, and an app named “MediFind” is created to enhance accessibility. This innovative solution enhances pharmaceutical practices and streamlines drug administration.
