Abstract: Deep neural networks, such as large language models, have been criticized for its lack of explainability. In this essay, we review recent research on enhancing the explainability of large language models. We proposed two challenges that need to be addressed in future research: 1) Explain with factual knowledge. 2) Explain with contextual knowledge. We believe that these two challenges are essential for the explainability of large language models.
