Abstract: The aim of the current paper is to bring a contribution to the ongoing debate regarding the true identity of the author behind the pen name Elena Ferrante using stylometric methods that have not been applied to this problem before. The two main methods we use were hierarchical clustering based on rank distance and umasking. All experiments pointed towards Domenico Starnone as the author behind the Ferrante corpus, aligning with previous research.
