Abstract: Highlights•This research applies the HAPA model innovatively in the context of interaction between robots and humans.•This study also expects to set the agenda for future research with regard to addressing further application of the HAPA model to human-robot interaction scenarios.•The current study provides a solid basis upon which exciting opportunities can be built in order to concentrate efforts on human-robot interaction in the service of human health.
