Abstract: Highlights•Display depth and 3D image definition was analyzed from visual perspective.•A simplified model for the analysis of light field construction was established.•The formula for calculating voxel size in the depth plane is derived.•Simulations and experiments were conducted to verify the correctness of analysis.
