Abstract: Highlights•An UAV-mounted LiDAR system was constructed to acquire cotton canopy parameters.•Crop canopy morphology was incorporated into UAV spraying decisions.•A prescription map generation technique was developed for UAV spraying.•UAV precise spraying control model with geolocation information was proposed.•Multivariate UAV spraying system based on cotton canopy volume was designed.
